May 2, 1942 Mrs. Ellen L. Stahlnecker, R.N. Superintendent of Nurses Herman Kiefer Hospital Detroit, Michigan My dear Mrs. Stahlnecker: Miss Madley, I know, is concerned that Dr. Gordon did not see you while he was in Detroit-before Christmas. She has written us that while she understands that through the Health Commissioner the technical questions about her leave of absence have been taken care of. She feels that the matter should also be arranged in a way which is acceptable to you. The distance makes it so difficult to come to an understanding on the matter of this sort with any satisfaction. I have written Miss Madley that I hope to have an opportunity to see you either in Detroit or Chicago before very long as I, myself, should like very much to have an opportunity to talk over the arrange- ment with you. In thinking of possible plans for seeing you in Detroit, It occurs to me that very likely you may be attending the meetings in Chicago later in the month. I expect to be there at least Tuesday and Wednesday but probably longer. I wonder if you could let me know whether you plan to betend the Biennial. If so, it would be very nice if we could arrange to meet. I shall look forward to hearing from you. Cordially yours, Mary Beard Director, Nursing Service D/b
