Miss Clara D. Noyes, Director
Red Cross Nursing Service
National Headquarters
American Red Cross
Washington, D.C.
Dear Miss Noyes:
It was a disappointment that I could not see you
when you were in Philadelphia and I in charge of The Na-
tional Nursing Exhibit at the Sesquicentennial. The Red
Cross Exhibit was in another building, but I viewed it
with pride. It was complete and as vivid as dignified it
seemed to me.
After the Sesquicentennial Dean Goodrich had me
represent the Yale School of Nursing at the New Haven
Progress Exposition. Then came the Educational Nursing
Campaign throughout the state for The New York League
of Nursing Education. Before leaving for the summer to
take care of my mother who was slipping between our fingers
in Kentucky, I made induires about our Johnny.
You will be glad to know that the National Health
Council told me it was the best seller of the set!
With my eye on our plan for a ten cent edition I
called on Funk &c Wagnalls hoping they might be about through
with the publication of the set. On the contrary, Mr. Neisel
said, books on more subjects were being added and that would
increase the sale of those previously published and the set
might be in circulation five years longer, that more of
"Johnny" would be printed this fall and that if you were
willing they would gladly add my name as co-author. good
It seems this is generally done, which I had not
fully realized at the time of writing 'Johnny. For instance,
Dr. Frankel of the Metropolitan Life has the name of the
young woman who wrote a book for him, appearing with his
own a.s author and this is customary I find.
If you feel you would be willing to write
