N 3 et ar miss Dumbar +i 5 THE VISITING NURSE SOCIETY OF PHILADELPHIA 1340 LOMBARD STREET L TELEPHONE PENNYPACKER 1421 E I PERSONAL April 12, 1945. 1:12 E + Miss Virginia Dunbar, Director, American Red Cross, them 5 Washington, D. C. L My dear Miss Dunbar: M I have hesitated to write you about this T matter, but think you may wish to know that Mrs. Elizabeth (A Martin, who has just resigned from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter staff as Director of Nursing Activities, has talked with me about her own problems. She is having some difficulty in deciding whether to accept the opening for European service about which Mrs. Vaughan talked to me, and has told me of two reasons. She is eager to know where the present opening may lead in the future, and she is concerned (this, I think, is the basic problem) to know how the experience here affects her standing in the Red Cross. I think she has already to written you of this and I know your counsel will be greatly appreciated. You are more familiar than I with all the factors successfully may involved. Tablet Mrs. Martin talked with me yesterday and I was concerned for her anxiety. She has been most dignified throughout a difficult experience, but I think just now she feels somewhat troubled and confused. Sincerely yours, Ruth W. Hubbard, Lefs thechapter m mapril 12th.
