Re: MARTIN, Ruth Marion
S
Gentlemen:
Te have received your questionnaire on Miss Martin and asked
our national director for Nursing Services to-provide the professional
information you have requested. Because of the nature of Red Cross
service, Miss Hagnussen has provided us with a narrative statement
rather than making an attempt to fit it on the questionnaire, 8.8 follows:
"Miss Ruth M. Martin was employed by the American Red Cross in the cape-
city of staff nurse, American Red Cross-Harvard Hospital Unit, Salisbury,
England June 8, 1941-July 15, 1942. She was assigned to the American
Embassy from August 1942-February 1, 1946 where she conducted a first aid
and nursing clinic for Embassy personnel which was financed by the American
Red Cross.
"Miss Mertin was en attractive individual who was well groomed in uniform
and street clothes. Her posture was good, her energy and endurence vere
satisfactory though not outstanding. She WRS an alert capable person,
cheerful, optimistic and friendly. She met people sasily and well, inspired
confidence and was able to make her influence felt. She was liked and re-
spected by her patients and co-workers. As a hospital staff nurse, she
was alert to her patients' conditions, was attentive to their needs, and
gave very good bedside care. Her records were neat and well kept.
"Miss Mertin worked alone at the American Embassy on e health program
which was rather limited in scope; however, met the needs of the Embasey
personnel. Her work included first aid, health supervision, arranging
for hospitalization and home visiting required by Embassy personnel.
Misa Martin was loyal, sincere and reliable."
We hope this is setiefactory, but if you have any further
questions please advise.
Very truly yours,
