me Calla alice #34,852 January 20, 1928 Mr. Emmett McCalla, Hicksville, Ohio. My dear Mr. McCalla: We are endeavoring to readjust our records at Red Cross National Headquarters and are anxious to have the present post office address of Miss Alice R. McCalla, American Red Cross nurse, who gives your name as that of her nearest relative in her papers on file in this office. We have not heard from Miss McCalla since March 1925 and our Local Committee on Red Cross Nursing Service with which she is enrolled, reports that she has failed to answer communications which they have sent her from time to time. For this reason, the Committee has forwarded her records to National Headquarters for action. Inasmuch as it is very important that we keep our file of enrolled Red Cross nurses as up to date and active as possible, it will be necessary for us to consider the annullment of Miss McCalla's enrollment as an American Red Cross nurse unless we are able to secure her present address within the next two months, or by March 20, 1928. We would indeed very greatly dislike to have to take this action but feel sure you, as well as the nurse, will realize that we cannot continue to carry in our files indefinitely nurses who are apparently not suf friciently interested in the Service to keep us advised of their addresses and reply to communications which come to them. We trust this letter to you will bring us the necessary information. Hindly send us Miss McCalla's present post office address by return mail, if possible, or if more convenient, we will be glad to have you hand this letter to her with the request that she write us before the date mentioned above. May we add here that it is not our desire to call upon Miss McCalla for any service whatever but simply to bring our records up to date. Thanking you in advance for your courtesy in this matter, I am Very truly yours, Clara D. Noyes, National Director, Red Cro SS Nursing Service MR-ee
