McCa lla,\nc/o Mr. Emmett McCalla,\nHicksville, Ohio.\nMy dear Miss McCalla:\nYou will note that the enclosed letter mailed to you at\nthe latest address on file for you in this office, has been returned to\nus unclaimed and, therefore, we are immediately addressing you in care\nof your nearest re lative as given in your application papers, in the hope\nthat this letter will reach you promptly and you will communicate with us\nregarding your present whereabouts.\nWe are also enclosing herewith a formal address question-\nnaire such as we are now requesting from all our American Red Cross nurses\nannually, in the hope of keeping our records more up to date. We will ask\nyou to be good enough to completely fill in the form and return it to us\nwith your reply to this letter. I would explain that in asking you to fill\nin this questionnaire, it is not our desire to consider you for any service\nwhatever, but simply to bring your records as an American Red Cross nurse\nquite up to date. I am sure you will be able to realize what a tremendous\npiece of work it is to keep our records of the nearly forty thousand enrolled\nRed Cross nurses up to date in any sense of the word and how utterly hopeless\nthis is unless all our nurses will cooperate with us. We are hoping, however,\nthat by the use of the annual address questionnaire, we will hear from all\nour nurses at least once each year and this will help greatly.\nI am hoping you will write us by return mail, if possible,\nand if you have returned to the United States to remain indefinitely, your\nenrollment record (#2 card) should be transferred to the proper Local Com-\nmittee on Red Cross Nursing Service in the States, nearest to your present\nlocation.\nWith my good wishes, believe me\nVery truly yours,\nClara D.
