N September 5, 1935 Miss Ella Melleil so West 50th Street New York City, New Yorle My dear Miss McWeil: Your letter was awaiting me on my return from my vacation which was the best I have had for many years. I spent most of the time in Maine. Your communication is entirely explanatory and satisfactory and when a decision has been reached as to who the next Secretary vill be and the fate of the files, that is whether we are to continue to keep them in the Chapter, etc., would it not be a gracious act on our part to write a letter of appreciation to Miss Reichner? She certainly has been a wonder- ful help to you and also to this office for the splendid way in which she has kept up withthe committee correspondence. or course, we realize that she has done this largely for you. We agree with you that it will be better to kecp your #2 card in the file of the Philadelphia Committee. inasmuch as your permanent address is still in that city. Do keep in touch mi th us as we shall always be interebted in you and your future career. It has been a great pleasure, not only to myself personally but to this office, to work with you and we only wish there were many more such secretaries scattered over these United States. We are just now plunged into great excitement and some extra work because of the situation in Florida and a typhoid epidemie in Kentucky and we are making prodigious plans to secure the assistance of the nurses for a larger roll call thén we have had in many years. Admiral Grayson is determined to get the membership up to five million so you see what is ahend of us this fall. Sincerely yours, Ida F. Butler Assistant Director of Nursing National Headquarters IFB MReSD 4
