M - Z A.R.C. MAIL ROOM RECEIVED 1bb. t Urmin Hoint, Jnd. JAN 21 1941 Referred to Tuberculosis Sanitarium Januarn 18,194. D American Red Cross Hearquarters, a Washington D.C. , Dear Madam: e In 1918 I called at Red Cross Head- quarters in Washington to offer my services. At that time I was 19 years old and working as a typist in the War Department. I was told that I was too young to be of service, and was advised to go into training in some good hospital. I entered Illinois Training School at Cook County, Chicago in 1921. Now to my great disappointment after years of active nursing and having been a member of the Red Cross, I find that I am too old by 2 years, to be accepted in this emergency. I am in excellent health and have had varied exper- ience. I am so afraid if I do not get into service now that war may come and I will be left behind. Hoping that you may be able to do some- thing to help me lose these two years, I am Sincerely yours, morling B - 1898 (43yrs) 21 2 6 5 8
