M el Z O 1 a March 6, 1925. F T Dr. Lester Mead Bubby, 27 West 68th Street, a New York City. 5 C My dear Doctor Hubby: e S I am writing to you on behalf of an Amerícan Red Croas Nurse, Miss Nora F. Mel ton, who was assigned by us to the Service de Sante during the Torld War. While in that service ehe contracted influenza or S. heavy cold, which localized in some of the sinus, I believe, and required an operation. Miss Melton hae continued work under increasing difficulties with the U. S. Veterans Bureau. She, however, has had many operations, deafness is increasing, and she has long since lost all sense of taste and smell. The result is her health ie precarious, and the time is arriving when she will probably not be able to work and will need to file a claim for ned Cross Insurance, which she hae not done because ehe has not as yet been completely disabled and this ie only allowed under such circumstances. She informs me that you operated upon her, probably at Dr. Blake's Hospital in Paris. Miss Grace Nichols who was with her at that time, serving as an interpreter, has been good enough to secure out your name and address for me. While Miss Melton remembered your last name she had no idea of your address at In order to file a claim with an Insurance Company, we musti be able to prove that disability ie directly traceable to Red Croes service. In order to be prepared, I am trying to gather all poseible evidence to thie end. The point is -- can you recall Mies Helton, and the general circumstances? Unfortunately, the record which was submitted to us by the Parie Office makes no reference to hospitalization or an operation. Hoping that you may be able to recall this particular case, I em Very sincerely yours, 5 National Director, Nursing Service. n.k
