the Red Cross whom they represent. They should bear in mind that any slight
act of indiscretion or thoughtlessness on their part may lay the Red Cross
Nursing Service and the nursing profession of America open to serious critisism.
The conditions under which they may be working may call for a complete readjust-
ment of their method of living and working, and their outlook upon life. We
do not look upon your assignment to overseas duty as & sacrifice but a glorious
privilege and an opportunity to carry the spirit of the Red Cross and the Nurs in
profession htherever you may be serving.
We shall watch your work with great interest through the reports
that are submitted to us by the representative of the Nursing Service in the
country where you may be serving.
We are always glad to hear from you at any time and we stand
ready to assist you at any time sho ld the need for such assistance arise.
You carry with you our best wishes for your success. Believe me as
Yours very sincerely,
Acting Director,
Bureau of Field Nursing Service.
