23720 December 2, 1918. Miss Gertrude E. Mill, 195 Cass St. Detroit, Michigan. My dear signified your willingness to be available for military ser vice in the demand for nurses has changed, Owing to the signing of the armistice, and the Superintendent of the Army Nurse Corps assures us that she has a sufficient January number of nurses available to meet all the present needs. Because of the uncertainty of conditions, I would advise that you make no preparations to enter the military service and that you continue with your usual work whatever that may be. May I take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation and your willingness to serve and assure you that the Bureau of Field Nursing could not have carried on this work as successfully as it has, ha'd it not had the splen- did cooperation and support of every individual enrolled Red Cross nurse. May I also request that you keep the Local Red Cross Committee or Divi- sion Director informed of any permanent change in address so that in case of an emergency you may be reached promptly. Yours very sincerely, Director, Bureau of Field Nursing Service.
