No. 3,\nAlexandria, Va.\nMy dear Miss Minnigerode:\nIt would seem too bad for you\nto come back simply to relieve Miss Applestein, although\nI appreciate very much your offer to do so and may be\nobliged to call upon you.\nI have had you in mind constantly\nsince you left and am wondering if you would be physically\nequal to any form of service in France. How do you feel\nabout it yourself?\nI would not suggest you for can-\ntonment service, unless as a Chief Nurse, but I believe you\nwould have an opportunity better suited to your qualifications\ndirectly under the Red Cross.\nIf you can get a clean bill of\nhealth from Dr. Ruffin or through the examiner for the\nPotomac Division, as we are now requiring all nurses who\ndesire foreign service to have the physical made on the same\nform as used for the other personnel, we could be getting you\nin line prepared for service while you were taking your\nvacation. You and Miss Addison might go over together.\nThe Russian Unit has been more or\nless of a fizzle as Mr. Williams who is in charge seems to\nfeel that it is his responsibility to select the nurses.\nI envy you an opportunity for a\nrest at this particularly hot and trying period.
