to study the nursing conditions. Because of the satisfactory character of this work
she was appointed by that department as Supt. of Nurses, a position which she held until
her death.
The Florence Nightingale medal, given by the International Red Cross Com-
mittee for conspicuous attainment in the nursing profession, was awarded to Miss
Minnigerode in 1925.
Miss Minnigerode graduated from the school of nursing at Bellevue Hospital,
New York City, and at one time was Supt. of Nurses at the Episcopal Eye, Ear and Throat
Hospital and at Columbia Hospital, both in the District of Columbia.
"She was a woman of outstanding ability and in her death the Public Health
Service has sustained an irreparable loss," declared Surgeon General Cummings.
