night I had supper with some friends at the Federation Tea House
and saw Miss Reilly, who asked me what I had heard from you, she
too had received a letter
I suppose you know that "Julie" has
gone to Europe to look into the school situation, and apprently
is
taking a trip to England I was surprised that she did not
go to Helsingfors.

Two communications have come from
your office, one from Miss Owen notifying me of the Meeting of
the Legislative Committee of the National Education Association.
unfortunately, it came on Monday morning, when I was presiding
at a Meeting of our Field Staff, so that I could not go. The
other was a note from General Ireland, with & copy of Mr. Moore's
classic communication to Col. Sherrill, accompanied by a note
from him to General Ireland. He speaks of "some of the very
pretty triangles on #assachusetts Avenue" as euitable places for
& monument. I presume that I should do something about it, but
have not as yet.
I am very buey getting ready for my
trip to Murope, and trying at the sametime to look after the
thousand and one Red Cross matters, not to mention my own personal
obligations - which as you may have surmised are rather heavy.
I am hoping that the rest and determination of the difficulty,
with the establishment of & careful regime for you, will restore

you to health and make it possible for you to return to your post
at the U. S. Public Health Service within the next few weeks.
