Miss Anne Slater Franks
Secretary, Local Committee
Red Cross Nursing Service
Cabaniss Hall
Richmond, Virginia
My dear Miss Franks:
Thank you very much for the information contained
in your letter of February 12 and the enclosed note from the
family of Miss Nannie J. Minor. Inasmuch as Miss Minor was
transferred to the third reserve sometime ago, her #2 card is
in this office but we will be sincerely grateful to you if you
will send us additional information to complete her records now
that she has passed away. We will appreciate having the exact
cause and place of her death and also her appointment card and
badge if you will be good enough to get them from her family
for filing with her permanent records here at National Head-
quarters. We are sure you will be willing to help us in this.
We are very glad indeed to know that you are making
your plans for Delano week and if the Committee decides to use
six nurses' capes and caps on the night of the celebration, we
shall be glad to send them to you as soon as you advise us of
the date for which they are desired and forward your definite
request for them.
In reply to the second paragraph of your letter, we
are afraid we shall have to leave the question to the Committee
for decision. A.R.C. 703 indicates that the Committee will send
to Headquarters for transfer to the third reserve, the #2 cards
of all nurses who have failed to respond to questionnaires for two
consecutive years. Upon carefully going over the #2 cards of your
nurses who have not responded for two years, however, you may find
some whom you know are active in nursing work at this time and who
are perhaps still under forty years of age, who you feel you would
like to give another opportunity to remain in the active status.
We would suggest that you send another questionnaire to such nurses
this year. In such cases perhaps a little personal note written on
the questionnaire will bring a response.
