San S M ur J FF 5 Fran Y D c, it's ce December 26, 1918. L Mr. Edward F. Murphy, Pomeroy, Garfield CO., Wash. My dear Mr. Murphy: I have just read of the death of your daughter, Miss Alice V. Murphy, and may I send with this my sincere sympathy and the assurance of our appreciation of Miss Murphy's willingness to serve her Country at this time. Miss Murphy died in the sertice of her countrye Her sense of duty and patriotism barried her to ar point where obedience to orders came apparently before any consideration for her physical well-being. It is a greate sorvow, to hear of the death of any of our nurses whom we have enrolled or assigned to duty but I feel sure however that you would not have wished your daughter to do less thin her duty at this time. Again assuring you of my sincere sympathy, I am, Faithfully yours, Director, Department of Nursing. L.
