Miss Elizabeth V. Duggan,
416 W. 122nd Street,
New York, N. Y.
My dear Miss Duggan:
Your letter of January 2nd received, and in
reply may I say that I was. sorry to learn that you may not be
able to continue your second semester at the Teacher's College,
as you know we are very much interested in all nurses wishing
to qualify ei ther in Public Health Nursing, or as instructors
in hospitals.
You did not state whether or not you were taking the
course to qualify as an instructor, or whether you were taking
the course in Public Health. Your papers are still in the
War Department so I am not in a position to determine whether,
you are eligible for one of the Scholarships offered by the
American Red Cross, and we shall be interested to know if it
is for financial reasons that you are unable to continue.
I am enclosing an application blank in the event
that you decide it might be worth while making application
for a scholarship, but of course we cannot guarantee that
this would be allowed, until after all your credentials
are considered. On the other hand, if you decide that you
do not care to continue, there may be an opportunity later
to consider your application for Service in Servia.
Anticipating an early reply in regard to this
scholarship, I am
Sincerely yours,
AGD/mcc
Director, Dept. of Nursing.
