CESSI July 19th 1920. Miss Mary K. Nelson, 573 Osborn Street, Fall River, Mass. My dear Miss Nelson: I am very much relieved to know that the final arrangements are made for you to take up the duties of the Director of Public Health Nursing in the Gulf Division. I congratulate the Gulf Division and ourselves on hav- ing secured your services and I contratulate you too on having a share in this great undertaking of ours in which we have so much faith. I am afraid I shall not be in the office at the time of your stop off here on yourway south but if I am not here Miss Holmes, my Assistant, will be here and as she has visited the Gulf Division she is thoroughly familiar with the situation there and of course knows our national policies and can tell you quite as much about things as I could. I shall miss seeing you, however. I think it wouldbbe well if you could plan to spend at least three days, if not more, in our office on your way south as there is no one in the Gulf Divi- sion who can go into all of the details about the public health nursing situa- tion, and I should like to have you thoroughly familiar with our policies and procedures before you undertake the responsibilities of your position. I am glad you are getting an insight into rural work for I know you will find it helpful and I am also glad that you are going to have a good rest before hand. I think you are thoroughly wise in insisting upon it. With best wishes, I am Yours sincerely, Director, FX/MM Red Cross Bureau of Publ ic Health Nursing.
