N Nee on Meca 3 COPY Mr. J. 0. Thornton September 18, 1942 Mr. P. L. Hutchins I am attaching hereto, copies of Mr. Dewitt Smith's letters of September 8th addressed to Miss Beard and me, regarding the supplemental payments to be made to Miss Marguerite Wales, Director of Nursing for the Eastern Area on account of the contribution received from the W. x. Kellogg D Foundation. A $6,000 contribution was received at National Headquarters from the w. K. Kellogg Foundation, Battle Creek, Michigan, on August 3lst, but was not deposited until September 8th. The deposit is covered by Cast Distribution Slip No. 57690. The remittence received from the Kellogg Foundation has been credited to Account 450-J and should remain in this account as it is not desired to take the payments to be made to Miss Wales through our Appropriation System. In accordance with Mr. DeWitt Smith's letter, the sum of $2,000 enhually is to be paid to Miss Wales from the fund received from the Kellogg Foundation. Payments should be made on the 15th and last days of each month and the checks should reach Miss Wales concurrently with her salary checks. The sum of $83.33 should be paid to Miss Marguerite Wales on the 15th and last days of each month. Will you please arrange to have a voucher and check issued in favor of Miss Marguerite Wales in the amount of $83.33 covering the payment due on September 15, 1942 at an early date.
