DELANO 1862-Born at Montour Falls, New York. 1885-Graduated from Bellevue Training School for Nurses, 1886. 1887-Superintendent of Nurses, Hospital, Jacksonville, Fla., during the epidemic of yellow fever. 1888-In charge of the nursing activities in Mining Camp Hospital, Bis- bee, Arizona. 1891-1896-Superintendent of Nurses, University Hospital, Phila- delphia, Pa. 1896-1898-At home, Montour Falls, New York. 1898-Private nursing, New York City; course at the New York School of Civics and Philanthrophy. 1900 to April, 902-Superintendent of Girls' Department, House of Refuge, Randall's Island, New York City. May, 1902 to October, 1906-Superintendent of Training School for Nurses, Bellevue Hospital, New York. 1907-At home, Charlottesville, Va. 1908-Traveled abroad. 909-Accepted chairmanship of Red Cross Nursing Service, and ap- pointed as second superintendent of Army Nurse Corps, in which capacity she traveled in the Philippines, Hawaii, China and Japan, and was decorated by the Japanese Government, the American Institute for Social Science, by Greece, and by Presi- dent Taft in behalf of the Red Cross. 1908-1911-President of the Board of Directors of the American Journal of Nursing. 1909-1912-President of the American Nurses Association. 1912-Resigned superintendency of Army Nurse Corps to devote entire time to the Red Cross Nursing Service. 1919-Sailed for France on the S. S. George Washington, January 2, and died at Savenay, France, April 15 while on active duty for the American Red Cross. JANE A. DELANO
