N u mino Extracted from letter from Miss Nuno to Miss Noyes, 2/22/24, from Athens. silts + " As to the "director of nursing" she is entirely in charge of the nursing work both American and native e personnel, She travels from one station to another in a supervisory capacity of all medical work. All requisi- 3 0 tions for hospital equipment and medical supplies are o.K by her before being purchased. She consults with the 16 a Medical director and managing director on any question of Lee C. heavy expenditures; transfer of peraonnel and etc. During a the absence of the Medical director from the city she acts is in his place attending conferences, signing requisitions and etc. All orders going to the medical personnel in the field are signed by both the medical director and director of nursing. It was necessary when we had no doctor to have an acting medical director as the native doctors in the fields hesitated to carry out the orders unless they came from à medical director. Now that Dr. Marden has been regualarly appointed and Dr. Dewey is his assistant, it is only of few occasions that I shall be called upon to act in that capacity and am only authorized to sign checks as acting medical director during the absence of the other two from the city. I am sure, therefore, no complication will arise. " see letter filed 041. N.E.R. N
