You have already ruceived the lotter of general instructions explain- ing the necessity for close ani auroful adherende to the general policies govern- ing Red. Cross assignments. This letter will be a personn) one. You will be by the peoples of the various countries through which you travol as not only a representative of American but of the mirsing profession and the Amerigan Red Cross, Thareforo I can not impress upon you too strongly tha naturo of the ethical obligations resting upon you. You should also bear in mini that any slight aet of indiscrotion or thoughtlessnoss on your part may bring criticiem upon sll of tlese groups. Conditions under which you may be working my call for a complete readifustment of your mothod of living and your outlook upon life. You are a seasoned Red. Cross worker. I feol eure therofore that I can roly upon you to meet difficulties with equanimity and that you will render as alwaya, service of the highest chameter. I am sure you approciato this sasignment as A very glorious opportunity to carry the apirit of norsing am the syirit of the Rod Cross whorever you may go. Aa you know, Mrs. Clarlotte M. Heilman la the Director of Nursing in Greece am will be responsible for the genoral supervision of your work, and is the official channel for reports. I shall, however, woldome a personal letter at any time. You will serve as the Head Nurse of this Unit until you reach Greece when you will report to Mrs. Hoilman at the Red. Croge office.
