My dear Mtus 0¹Connor:
Thank you for your letter of January 10
in hhich you indicated your desire for roinatete-
e
ment in the Red Cross Nuroing Service and bhat you
are applying for appointment to the Army Nurse
Corps.
I think when you saw-Ml: a Benfield last
summer, she indipated that it would be necessary
for you to definitely reestablish yourself in civilian
nursing bofore you could be considered for reinstate-
ment in the Red Cross Nursing Service and for an ap-
pointment to the Army Nurse Corps.
You failed to indicate in your letter what
you have been doing since you wero here so I am unable
to give you e definite answer. It would necessitate
work in an institution under close and careful super-
vision for several months. I understand that you were
doing privet duty et the time you visited us and this
hould not suffice. I au sure ve want to do everything
possible to help you reestablish your elf but in all
fairness I believe tha even thourh you my again be in
good standing with this organization, we ould hesitate
to recommend you for military service. It is our belief
that there is a degree of emotional instability hich
would prove di equalifying in mil tury service.
We do apprecist your desire to be of asolo-
tance at this Lima but feel definitely thust for the
present st least your beat contribution unn be in the
field of civilieri nursing.
Sincerely yours,
Virginia n. Dunbser
