KOEFOED FAMILY RECORD
COMPILED BY RUTH KOEFOED
TRANSLATED BY AGNES LEIN
Families up to and including Major Holger Koefoed; born 1663 on the Island
of
Bornholm, died in Skogn, Norway, in 1752. This record is taken from Julius Bidstrup's
"History of Koefoed family A," " Copenhagen, 1886.
Giessing relates in his history of the Koefoed family published in 1786 that
Danish noblemen bearing the name Koefoed and wearing the Koefoed coat of arms were
among Norsemen who invaded Normandy. He also rolates that when William the Conqueror
went from Normandy to England in 1063, there was in the group of Norman noblemen who
were his followers one whose name was Arnfred Koefoed; but it would probably be diffi-
cult to prove relationship between him and the Koefoed family from Bornholm.
