Thank
Miss Helen M. Roser.
179 Fort Washington Aveas
New York City.
My dear Miss Roser:
On May 23rd of this year we sent you a letter notify=
ing you of your appointment as a Red Cross nurse. On the same date we
also mailed you under separate cover your appointment card and badge
together with a post card which you were instructed to fill in and
return to this office.
A month has elapsed and we have had no acknomledgnent
from you. We are greatly worried lest the badge and card may not have
reached you. These articles are almays the property of the Red Cross
Nursing Service. The loss of them is serious owing to the fact that
they are apt to fall into the hands of unscrupulous people who exploit
them thus bringing discredit upon the American Red Cross,
May we take this opportunity to call to your attention
that it is the ethical obligtion of every enrolled Red Cross nurse to
keep us informed of any change she may make in her name or her permanent
address and to reply promptly to any communication from the American Red
Cross.
We shall hope for a response to this letter by return
mail. Please fill in and return the post card, if you have mislaid
it acknowledge receipt of badge and card by letter and mail to us in
the enclosed addressed envelope, be sure and state your Red Cross number
which is engraved on the badge and written on the appointment card.
If the articles have not reached you, notify us at once
and proceed to trace them yourself through the post office of the town
to which they were sent and the address which you gave us on your applica-
tion blank. Duplicates cannot be issued until every offort has been made
to locate the original card and badge.
Hoping for your prompt reply to this letter, I am
Very truly yours,
a
Clara D. Noyes,
Chairman, National Committee,
