Extract from minutes of the Scholarship Committee meeting, May 14, 193:
"Miss Teal presented two applications from two sisters, the Misses Clara B.
and Mabel J. Rue, made through the Central Division, for each a grant of $300 and
a loen of $300 to enable her to take a second year's work in pub lio health nurs-
ing at Teachers College, the first year having been taken at the student's own
expense. Miss Teal st ated that Miss Johnson in New York reported that she thought
that ultimately one of the sisters would make a good state supervisor and the
other a director of public heal th nursing courses.
"The view was unanimously expressed by the committee that scholarship loans
and grants should not be authorized for further training for a student already
qualified for Red Cross chapter publio health nursing work."
