March 20, 1930.
Miss Winifred M. Ryan,
2814 Portland Avenue,
Minneapolis, Minn.
My dear Miss Byan:
Thank you so much for your letter of March 17th.
This bears out the conclusions that I had gradually reached in my
own mind, and that is -- that but one citation was given for the
two decorations.
I am sending a copy of your letter to Mr. Coleman,
of Indianapolis, in order that he may understand the situation.
The description of your citation. coincides exactly with the copy
that I have at National Headquarters, and as a reproduction shows
two medals, probably the one on the left is the Red Cross and the
other may be the "Cross of Mercy."
Again thanking you for your letter, and for the
explicit information that it contained, Is am
Yours very truly,
National Director, Nursing Service.
N.H
