My dear Miss Barber: No will today sand Miss Ryan's name to the Bureau of Por- sonnal for investigation, which may take anywhere from 10 days to 3 months. Miss Ryan was all ready to go somatima ago for this service and was unable to accept the offer at that time. 70 have now do many rulinga covering the sending of nurses that it takes us usually anywhere from a month to six weeks to get a hurge ready. We are not permitted to giva a dofinite answer concerning service until the selection of the nurse has been suggested by the Barsan of Parsonnel after the investiga- tion as to loyalty. This is no reflection -on the mixae , and I would advise you to say nothing to Mici Ryan about it as it upsets them, but it in the case of every person sent overseas and, of course, you will realize that tt is necessary. I am only making this explanation to you as Division Direc- tor, in order that you can keep Miss Egtan from becoming too impa- tient if there aacina to be delay in her assignment.
