My dear Mrs. Conrad:
With regard to the matter which I discussed informally with Miss
Virginia Dunbar recently, and later with you by telephone, I am
writing to present a formal request, in order that you may have
it before you at this time.
Would it be possible for the American Red Cross to give some
financial assistance to the American Nurses' Association in con-
nection with the program which it has carried forward in relation
to the recruitment of nurses for the Armed Forces in general, and
with the conduct of "The Army Nurse in War" as sponsored in New
York, New York, and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
Inasmuch as expenses for this project were not budgeted in the
1945 budget of the ANA, and as this is a project which has been
sponsored jointly by the ANA and the American Red Cross in coopera-
tion with the Surgeon General of the U. S. Army, any assistance
which the Red Cross would be able to extend to the ANA in this
connection, would be greatly appreciated.
Very sincerely yours,
(Mrs.) Alma H. Scott, R.N.
Executive Secretary
