My dear Dr. Beeson:
Would you be good enough to review the enclosed correspondence and
give us any additional information you can. I am attaching all informa-
tion we have about the difficulty which Miss Loraine Smith had with her
eyes. Miss Smith has been accepted by the Army end, therefore, her eyes
are both in good `condition at the present time. lie have asked for these
letters for her files so that we may have the information in the event
that possible questions are raised at a future date. You submitted these
statements to our Supervisor of Insurance, who has commented as follows:
"I note that in neither Dr. Elder's letter to Dr. Beeson nor in
Dr. Beeson's letter of March 26, 1942, to Miss Madley, is any mention
made as to the origin of Miss Smith's eye trouble. I àlso notice that
in Dr. Elder's letter to Doctor Beeson it is stated that Miss Smith had
a tissue cyst in her right eye, which he excised.
"If it is at all possible to do so at this time, I think it would
be very advisable to get from Miss Smith's doctor as specific a statement
as possible as to the exect nature of her eye trouble and its origin.
"I. raise these questions because, should a claim later develop in
this case, I am quite sure the insurance company would require some evi-
dence to show that Miss Smith's eye condition had its beginning while she
was actually in our overseas service and was not the sequela of some pre-
vious eye trouble."
Very sincerely yours,
