    "ocrText": "Miss Smith:\n-2-\nJanuary 31, 1941\nWe are writing to the State Department, supporting your application\nand requesting that the passport be sent to us so that we may obtain a\nBritish visa for you here in Washington, after which we will return the\npassport to you. There may be some delay in obtaining passports until\nwe know just what boat we will be sailing on. DO do not be disturbed if\nyou fail to receive yours shortly after application has been filed.\nWe would like to have the following information: your fullnname;\nage; religion; name and address of your nearest relative, stating relation-\nship; and the name and address of the person or bank to which you wish to\nhave your salary paid while you are in England. These salary checks will\nbe paid the first of the month automatically and will be less deductions on\na drawing account for personal expenses in England. Your family will be\nnotified of your arrival there and it is the present intention of Harvard\nUniversity to issue a monthly report to them. Mail may be sent to the\nAmerican Red Cross Headquarters, London, England. It will be forwarded to\nus from there.\n\"ith this letter we are sending you a copy of the latest News Release.\nYou may be contacted by the press and with permission of your present empl\nemployer, it will be quite alright to discuss your appointment to the\nHarvard Unit.\nDo not take caneras,\nWe do not expect to sail for England until about March 15. will you\nlet us know if you have any difficulty in holding your present position.\nWe realize how difficult it is for present employers of our applicants and\nappreciate their cooperation.\nSincerely yours,\nGertrude Madley,\nChief Nurse,\nAmerican Red Cross-\nHarvard Hospital Unit.\nK/B\nInc.
