    "ocrText": "December 5, 1940.\nThe following information is furnished concerning insurance\nto be provided Red Cross nurses forming a part of the American Red Cross-\nHarvard Hospital Unit in England.\nIt is proposed to provide the following insurance:\n1. Life insurance. Each Red Cross nurse as well as all Red Cross\nemployees presently in overseas service will be insured with the Metropolitan\nLife Insurance Company under a group term life insurance policy which will provide\nin case of death from any cause while the insurance is in force, the sum of $2000\nfor such beneficiary as the insured employee may designate. This insurance may,\nat the option of the worker and upon her return to the United States and termination\nof employment, be converted without medical examination into any of the usual forms\nof Life Insurance, excepting term insurance, written by the Metropolitan Life In-\nsurance Company at rates applicable to the attained age and class of risk.\n2.\nSickness and Accident Insurance. It is proposed to have each\noverseas worker covered by a sickness and accident insurance policy written for\nus by the Travelers Insurance Company upon a cost plus basis, which insurance will\nprovide weekly indemnity of $25.00 for a period of one hundred weeks for continuous\nand total disability resulting from accident sustained or disease contracted within\none year from the date of the policy and while engaged in overseas work for us. The\nweekly indemnity payment will commence four weeks after beginning of disability\nduring which four weeks period it is assumed the overseas worker's regular salary\nwill be paid by the organization.\nIf the disability first starts after the worker has returned to the\nUnited States and left Red Cross service, then in order to obtain any benefit from\nthe policy it is necessary to establish that the accident or sickness disability had\nits direct origin while in Red Cross overseas service.\nThis insurance is provided by the Red Cross and the nurse meets no\npart of the expense.\nTHE AMERICAN NATIONAL RED CROSS\nWASHINGTON, D.
