FORM 222
THE AMERICAN RED CROSS
Ada
NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS
NEW ENGLAND DIVISION
To Miss Elizabeth G. Fox, Director of P. H. Date November 29, 1924.
Nursing, Washington, D. C.
FromMiss Virginia M. Gibbes, Director of
Subject Supervising Position for Maine.
Nursing, New England Division.
A. R. C. MAIL ROOM
RECEIVL
DEC 1 1924
Referred to 741
Today we have the following wire from
Miss Munn, whom we were considering as Supervising Nurse for
Maine:
"Impossible to accept position. Letter following."
This is rather disappointing, but Miss Sanderson has been doing
very good work in Maine, and since there is no pressingdemand for
an itinerant Home Hygiene instructor, she can probably continue
there a month or two longer. However, we are anxious to get a
permanent whole-time person for this state, and would like to have
other names proposed to us. The only person I have in mind.
as a possibility is Miss Ada Holden Stafford, Badge #29467, who
seems to have had a variety of experience, and has a very nice
personality.
She spent three months with Miss Holman in
Altopas, North Carolina, three years as tuberculosis nurse in
Albin and Chautaugua Counties in New York, organized district
nursing in Bluefield, West Virginia, and was school nurse for a
year or more in Providence, R. I. We find we have not complete
addresses of people to write to for references, and are having
some difficulty in getting replies to our letters. If there is
anything on file in Washington about Miss Stafford, we should
appreciate having copies.
Virgine a Tible
Virgihia M. Gibbes.
