My dear Miss Stafford:
I have had a letter from lirs. Moody, Director of the New York
reau of Equipment, informing me that you have refused to return the cape,
blanket, sleepting bag and bhary-all which were issued to you as part of
your équipment when you were sent to Siberia, unless you receive a refund
for the amount you claim to have paid for them. These articles were is-
sued to you, just as to the other nurses; with the understanding that they
were to be returned at the completion of your service. The Red Cross was
exceedingly generous in the matter of equipment, allowing you to retain
everything with the exception of the above names articles, and I am very
much surprised that one of our nurses should assume the attitude you have.
will you please send me a statement as to when, where and how much
you paid for these articles, unless, in the meantime, you decide to com-
ply with my earnest request that you return these articles to Mrs. Moody
at once.
