Y.\nMy dear Miss Stahl:\nYour physical has been approved by our Red Cross medical advisor\nand we are nou in a position to offer you an appointment as Staff Nurse\nwith one of the civilian emergency hospitals in the Hawaiian Islands which\nis under the direct jurisdiction of the Emergency Medical and Hospital\nService of the Territorial Office of Civilian Defense in the Territory of\nHawaii. This position carries the sulary of $112.50 per month, including\nfull maintenance and the laundering of your uniforms. Your salary will\nstart from the time you take your Oath of orfice in San Francisco, as will\nalso the terms of your employment with the office of Civilian Defense,\nin accordance with the employment regulations enclosed.\nAS you have noted, we have advised you to take your own hospital\ncape. However, we shall supply you with thrce Red Cross caps and eight\nRed Cross insignia to be worn on your uniforas. These are now being sent\nfrom our Supply Department and should reach you wi thin a uh rt time. This\nequipment is in the form of a loan and you will be expected to return it\nto this office whenever you terminate your service there.\nThe required immuni ations are snallpox, triple typhoid and tetanus\ntoxoid. If you have not been vaccinated for smallpox within the past year,\na repeat vaccination is advised. AS both the tetanus and typhond inocu-\nlations are given in & series covering several weeks, you will need to\nstart these at once. If your immunizations are not completed before you\nleave home, arrange to take the medication with you, nd if an inoculation\ncomes due while you are in San Francisco, please get in touch th Miss\nGladyce Badger, Civic Auditorium, Larkip & Grove Streets, ano is in charge\nof our Pacific Area Office, and who will make arrangements for this to be\ngiven. Enclosed are duplicate immunization forms. One is to be returned\nto this office, the other you will keep with you at all timés. In case\nyour inoculations have not been completed before you leave the Mainland,\nplease return one immunization register to this office, indicating the time\nthat the series will have been completed.\nEnclosed please find the following:\n1. Employment regulations\n2. Supplementary information\n3. Dublicate immunization registers"
