April 7, 1932 Miss Theresa Jane Stinson, Laurel School, South Euclid, Ohio. My dear Miss Stinsont In reply to our letter, while I think we can give you a great deal of valuable information which will help you, we cannot send you a copy of the oath of allegiance which you took when you signed up for overseas service. However, I am sure that the oath you took is the oath of allegiance which the nurses were asked to take when they were assigned to military service during the war. Your service was not under the American Expeditionary Forces but directly under the American Red Gross, and we have this information on file. As soon as you applied for service the usual loyalty investigation was started and was entirely satisfactory. The date of this communication is August 29, 1918. On November 15, 1918 we received the following communication from the Office of the Chief of Staff, War Departnent, Washington, D. C.: "The War Department has no objection to - Stinson, Theresa Jane, of 6802 Carnegie Ave., Cleveland, Ohio, being sent for duty with the A.E.F., in connection with the Red Cross." M. Churchill, Brigadier General, General Staff, Director of Military Intelligence. By: J. S. Moore, Captain, U. S. Army Your Red Cross records indicate that April 27, 1919 was the date of your contract when you were assigned to the Siberian Com- mission. You were released from this service on February 5, 1920 when you sailed back to the United States. Your Siberian record is very fine. You were given a general average of A and your records Show that you were a splendid organizer and showed great executive ability. Your aptitude toward the service was rated as splendid.
