    "ocrText": "Stery,\nJuly 21, 1922\nMrs. Richard Noye, Executive secty,\nBuffalo Chapter, A.R.C.,\n396 Delaware Ave.e\nBuffalo, N.Y.\nMy dear Mrs. Noye:-\nYour letter of July 14th has been read with some interest, particularly\nyour criticism of the letter sent from Natbonal Headquarters to liss strycker. We\nnatur lly regret if she or you interpreted this letter as one of unfriendliness\nor lack of sympathy, for I am sure this was not intendede In fairness to the Nation-\nal Headquarter which was engaged withquastions relating to the demobilization of\nwell on to 25,000 nurses, it would seem hardly just to express an opinion on a sin-\ngle letter which formed a part of an extensive correspondence\nYou can rest assured that the Nursing Service of the American Red cross\nhas the interest of every one of its nurses very deeply at heart, and had liss stry-\noker made mention in one of her letters of a physical impairment, steps would have\nbeen taken at once to have established her right to insurance at that time. The\nsubject of all Miss strycker's letters to us was the question of financial compen-\nsation for equipment which she had bought, the right to the bonus, which was an\nArmy matter, and not a Red Cross, - etc. etc.\nare It is hardly worth while at this laterdate to review the situation, but\nas there>always two sides to a question, and you have expressed an opinion more or\nless unfavorable, it seemed to me in justice to this-office that I should explain\nthe make this trief Mch stalement\nWe have the full records of Miss strycker's work at National Headquar-\nters from the time she left this country with the original Unit until her discharge\nfrom the service, and while the enrollment of nurses and their assignment to duty\nis\nnot a Chapter res: onsibility, we are always very glad to have the Chapters interest\nthemselves in the Nursing Service of the Red cross, and its individual members. We\nare sorry, if Miss strycker's feelings were hurt, that she did not speak of it at\nthe time, and not leave it for someone else to do at this late date.\nThank you very much for your observations on the question of nurses'\nrepresentation at the National Convention of Soci 1 Workers in Providence. I am\nvery glad to know your views on this subject, and feel sure that such an arrange-\nment as you suggest would be of great advantage to both the Nursing and social\nWorkers' organizations.\nIn order that you may not be puzzled by my new title, may I state that"
