Miss Strycker was so hurt and wounded by
the le tter that she made up her mind to ask nothing
more of the Red Cross and it was only at the
solicitation of many of her friends, when she reach-
ed the point of almost to tal disability, so far as
her profession was concerned, that she to ok up the
matter. She was very foolish of course to let things
drift simply because some one had written an unwise
letter but- she did.
My feeling now is that no matter what her
peculiarities or short comings may have been, she
did an unusually fine piece of serice, particularly
in Italy and is practically incapacitated as the
result of it. In view of the circumstances, as I
have just told them, it would seem that technicalities
should be waived and something definite done for her
