I beg to say that truth compels\nme to tell you that Miss Symonds manifested rather a militant spirit\nwhile here, and, unfortunately did not leave a good impression with\nme, as she succeeded in influencing some of my head nurses to the\nextent that I had to give them their choice -resign, or relieve them-\nselves of so harmful a tendency. I do not consider her attitude of\nmind concerning the spirit of service one that would be of a helpful\nnature.\nI am sorry to say one word that prevents a woman from securing\nwhat she is aiming to obtain, but, when women accept positions in a\nhospital and find the conditions to be such as they cannot accept,\nthey should withdraw and not attempt to cause disturbance. You will\nnotice that she has not remained long in nay one position.\nThe thing that astonishes me is that after Miss Symonds deliber-\nately endeavored to create disaffection here she should refer to me.\nCan it be possible that her moral perceptions are so warped ?\nAs you suggest this will be confidential, I trust.
