Butler, Assistant to the\nNational Director, Nursing Service.\nIn reply to your letter of January 6th relative to the\nSpecial enrollment of Miss Mary Taylor. I am attaching to\nthis\na copy of the letter we wrote on November 14, 1925, in reply\nto your letter of November 11th. In the third paragraph of\nthis letter you will note that we have explained the subsequent\ntraining Miss Taylor would have to take in order to meet the\nrequirements for general enrollment.\nMay I call to your attention that she is a graduate\nof the Mercy Hospital Training School in Cadillac, Mich., which\nduring the period of her training only cared for a twenty-five\ndaily average number of patients. She had three months affilia-\ntion in the Childrens' Free Hospital, Detroit, Mich., according\nto her statement on the application blank, though the Superintendent\nof Nurses made no note of that fact on the training school credential.\nWhen she was granted Special enrollment she was not a\nmember of any nursing organisation and, therefore, not a member\nof the American Nurses' Association. After graduation she did\nprivate duty nursing and there is no record of her ever having\nhad a special course in Public Health Nursing.\nWhile we appreciate the interest of the Chapter in Miss\nTaylor and their anxiety that she may qualify for general enrollment,\nIt would not seem possible at this time to change her status until\nshe. had taken the post-graduate course.
