Mini Teacher
Efficiency Report for
HELEN TEAL
Helen Teal served as Assistant National Director of the Public Health
Nursing Service from April 1, 1923 to September 10, 1926. Her duties were
of a literary and secretarial nature rather than administrative. She was
responsible for many publications and articles, many of which she herself
wrote in large part, and she also assisted me with much of my work. She
showed unusual literary ability and quick intelligence in planning and draft-
ing outlines, manuals, guides and the like. She was very ambitious, constant-
ly studying and reading to improve her work, and showed a very kindly attitude
toward the nurses with whom she had dealings through the scholarship and loan
correspondence and other correspondence.
With her mental equipment, which is decidedly above the average, Miss
Teal would go far were she not handicapped by certain temperamental difficulties
and by inability to understand organization on a large scale and to work through
proper channels.
She will do her best work I think as superintendent of a local public
health nursing organization where I should expect her to do exceedingly well.
She also would be far more helpful than most nurses in preparation of any kind
of written material.
