re Margaret Thomas Memo from Miss Havey while en route to West Coast, rec'd 5-22-33: P "From Mrs. Vaughan and Miss Kinney I gather that they would turn her down. I wouldn't! it seems to me 1. We will wait and see what Miss Haig has to say. 2. Let's ask Miss Norlin how she feels about taking her. Tell her about this nurse and see how she feels. t 3. Then I think we might say to Miss Thomas that this is a specific thing and redly only for nurses who are interested in teaching our prescribed course. We know she is teaching but not A.R.C. course. If she wishes to attend and possibly utilize our course later on, we shall be glad - in fact very glad - to have her. 4. (If Miss Haig is opposed and says to drop her, then let's just say to Miss Thomas, we are sorry, etc.) Letter to Miss Norlin sent May 24th, giving brief resume of information, etc., regard- ing Miss Thomas. From Miss Norlin's reply, June 12th: "I am perfectly willing to take Miss Thomas in as a student. Perhaps our work will help her in teacher training. I never have high hopes of changing old hab- its much but just to try her, knowing that Headquarters are aware that she is a prob- lem, makes me willing to try her. I'd try hard to handle her and help her. If we do not succeed, I shall feel free to send in a very frank report."
