THE AMERICAN RED Cross PACIFIC BRANCH Mrs. Isabelle W. Baker, National Director Date April 23, 1930. ROOM To Home Hygiene and Care of the Sick, A.R.C., Washington, D.C. RECEIVED Subject From Margaret Thomas Chey enne, Wyoming.PR 2 8 1930 Rena Haig Beforred to M Your letter of April the 15th in regard to Miss Margaret a Thomas has been received. I have never met Miss Thomas, but I know a good deal about ach her through correspondence. When I was in the Midwestern area we had con- siderable difficulty with her in Montana because she wanted to teach the course in two or three weeks as she travelled about the state. She has been with Mrs. Blakely in Oregon for the last few months. Early in this assignment she started to do a little Home Hygiene development on her own initiative and tried to get a Red Cross chapter to pay a nurse, who was not particularly well qualified or interested to do the work. Evidently my letter to her on this occasion discouraged her for I heard nothing more of her activity along Home Hygiene lines. a I understand that Miss Thomas is/very aggressive, selfconfident person, and is quite difficult to deal with. It might be well for her to take the Teacher Training course at Fort Collins in order to learn how the work should be conducted. However, I am afraid that she will constitute a rather disturbing element in the group unless Miss Norlin knows how to curb a person of her type. Miss Thomas wrote to me in January in regard to a position in this area. I was surprised to hear that she had located in Wyoming. Sincerely yours, Timaziting (Miss) Rena Haig, Assistant National Director Nursing Service, A.R.C. RH-mt APR 28 1930
