Extract of letter Dated October 2,1917. from C.M.Powell, Minneapolis City
Hospital. to Mias Clara D. Noyes.,
I still have three nurses who have been notified by the local branch of the
Red Cross to be ready for call. A fourth was called from Washington this
morning. The three remaining, Miss Etta Myrick, the assistant superintendent,
Miss Minnie Nelson, Supervisor, of the Receiving Department, Miss Bessie
Thompson, Supervisor of Contagious Department, I should be glad to have
released for the time being, at least, if that be possible. I have consulted
them and they are willing to remain at least until spring.
Reply to letter Dated October 7,1917. from Miss Noves, to Miss C.M.Powell.
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter and to state that we
will not disturb Miss Myrick as we realize that We cannot afford to handicap
the schools until as a last resort.
Miss Nélson is not listed as ready. She will not thereford be disturbed,
but Miss Thompson ie on the active list of Base Hospita #1. I think Bessie
Thompson is a graduated of Bellevue and was placed on that on that hospital
some months ago before she went to your school.
