5721 March 10, 1922 Miss Bessie Thompson, U.S. Veterans Hospital #59, Tacoma, Washington. My dear Miss Thompson: Your letter of March 2nd has been received, and I am indeed sor- ry that you feel that our Bureau of Accounts has been unreasonable, but I am sure after looking over the correspondence, it seems to me that they have been just as fair as possible, and tried not to trouble you any more than was nec- essary. As I dtated in my former letter, we are indeed distressed that the tates have not recognized the service performed by Red Cross nurses while not un er military authority, but there seems nothing further to be done in the matter. As I note, however, you did receive the bonus from September, 1918 to Lpril, 1919. This gives you some recognitione Assuring you of my interest, believe me as, Very truly yours, Assistant to Director, B/F Nursing Service
