Nurses\nto whom equipment cards have been issued must have these filled out and reta reed\nto the Buresu of Equipment at 222 Fourth Avenue, New York City. as soon after\ntheir receipt as possible, by special delivery, being careful to give the\ncorrect instructions as to size of hat, waists, gloves, etc.\nThe equipment of nurses not living in the\nAtlantic, New England or Penns Ivania Divisions will be shipped direc ly to\nSan Francisco or to Seattle.\nTherees living in the Divisions mentioned will\nhave their equipment shipped directly to their homes and any alterations\nnecessary may be made before they proceed to the point of embarkation.\nNurses living in Now York or in the immodiate\nvicinity are requested to report in parson to the Dureats of dquipment for\ninstructions regarding equipment. Tais must be dono as soon after this\nlotter of instructions has boon received as possible.\nMay I urge that all mirses notify this office\nwhen their complete equipment has arrived. Nurses who have been informed that\ntheir equipment will be shipped to their homes must not proceed to San Francisco\nor to Seattle unless their equipment has arrived. If equipment has not been\nreceived it is important that they contact icate with this Department at Head-\nquarters at ones by wire.\nInstructions regarding your applying for\npassport will be issued by your Division Director. we have suggested that they\nask all marsia to notify as of the date on which they make application for pass-\nport, and we also suggest that you notify us of the date on which you return\nyour equi ment card to Now York, either by letter or post card.\nDue to the limited space on the steamers it\nis difficult to give an approximate date of your sailing. In view of this un-\ncertainty we would urge that you do not give up the work that you are doing\nuntil you have received instructions to do so. This may give you very little\ntime final arrangements. int may save 57012 considerable time in whiting.\nYou should take as little of your own apparel\nas possible, as t is will be shipped basic to your home as soon as you receive\nRed Gross equipment. llo furs, such as scarfs, miffs,or far coats will be\nallowed, but a knitted scarf of kchalt or navy blue may be taken.\nMarses assigned to service overseas should\nunderstand that we cannot promise a definite assignment to any nurse. They\nare selected for service with reference to their preferation for special types"
