My Dear Miss Gowdy :
Thank you very much for your letter regarding
the most recent rulings in respect to the scholarship and loan
funds. I have giben the matter considerable thought and have
decided to ask the withdrawal of my application for a scholar-
ship . Since you kindly offered to change the figures for
me on the application for loan , I shall ask you to make it
out for $800. instead of $400.
The amount of $800. is asked after a careful
analysis of legitimate expenses and after consultation with the
the authorities of the Public Health Section of Teacher's Col-
lege. The College gives out the information that $1000 for 8months
is the very lowest figure that one can maintain themselves on.
This is approximated as follows :
Board and Room
$500.00
Tuition and college Fees300.00
Railroad -etc
$100.00
Texts, Laundry, Uniforms
Special dues, Carfare.
Accessories
$100.00
$1000.00
For the additional four months of practice
which I am lining up for , one spends
Board and Room
250.00
Tuition and fees
70.00
CarFare- Laundry etc
Accessories (Uniform Exp.
accounted above )
40.00
360.00
Lees Salary from V.N.A. -160.00
Henry Str.--2mos,@$80.
200.00.
Total
$1200.
Total Time lyr.
Two-thirds of this --is
--$800.
5V 12 mos.
I trust that this will be satisfactory. I do not
beleive that I should be able to remain with a smaller amount of
loan. Of course you are famlar enough with personal expenses to
