Chicago AMERICAN FEB 23 1922 ANSO RED CROSS My Dear Miss Gowdy : Thank you very much for your letter regarding the most recent rulings in respect to the scholarship and loan funds. I have giben the matter considerable thought and have decided to ask the withdrawal of my application for a scholar- ship . Since you kindly offered to change the figures for me on the application for loan , I shall ask you to make it out for $800. instead of $400. The amount of $800. is asked after a careful analysis of legitimate expenses and after consultation with the the authorities of the Public Health Section of Teacher's Col- lege. The College gives out the information that $1000 for 8months is the very lowest figure that one can maintain themselves on. This is approximated as follows : Board and Room $500.00 Tuition and college Fees300.00 Railroad -etc $100.00 Texts, Laundry, Uniforms Special dues, Carfare. Accessories $100.00 $1000.00 For the additional four months of practice which I am lining up for , one spends Board and Room 250.00 Tuition and fees 70.00 CarFare- Laundry etc Accessories (Uniform Exp. accounted above ) 40.00 360.00 Lees Salary from V.N.A. -160.00 Henry Str.--2mos,@$80. 200.00. Total $1200. Total Time lyr. Two-thirds of this --is --$800. 5V 12 mos. I trust that this will be satisfactory. I do not beleive that I should be able to remain with a smaller amount of loan.
