STAFF COUNCIL Miss Clara D. Noyes, Director of Nursing Service, No. Encl Prev. Corr 116 The American Red Cross, JUL 9 1921 am National Headquarters, Washington, D.C. To RECD. mirsing reply for My dear Miss Noyes: Referred to File At a. meeting of the Committee on Nursing held yesterday your letter of the 27th ult was read and I was requested to say that our Committee thoroughly appreciates how you feel regarding the scholarships, it is their understanding too, but as I explained, Miss Torrance received her scholarship from the West Side Work Room Committee who have been looking forward to the time when "their scholarship nurses"would be in the field. However when I called up Miss Wiltse the Chairman, and told her your desire to have Miss Torrance for over-seas service, she said she was sure the Committee would appreciate the honor of helping such a splendid piece of Red Cross Work and would willingly assent to Miss Torrance's doing this kind of work. We would like very much to be advised about the time of Miss Torrance's departure. Trusting you will understand that our Committee is always anxious to co-operate and that this delay has in no way held up your plans for Miss Torrance.
