Selma, Ala. July 10, 1918.
Surgeon General Gorgas,
Washington, D. C.
Sir:-
I wish to ask for information in regard to
passports. I hage been enrolled with the Red Cross for more
than seven months for foreign service. I was assigned to
Orthopedic base hospital No. 114 but thru a misunderstanding
was not permitted to go with this hospital. I think the
inclosed letter (copy) will explain why I refused the home
service.
I have recently bee informed that I could not
obtain a passport because I have a half brother in the U. S.
Army, altho still in this country. This half brother is seven-
teen years old and is now at Camp Jackson, Greenville, S. C.
I have not lived in the house with this boy, nor do I have any
correspondence with him.
I
have just recently made application for surgical
and anaesthetic service.
Was accepted but the question of a
passport has come up.
Please inform me ifethere is any way out of this
difficulty as I am most anxious for service.
Respectfully,
Ethel Trainor,
Ethel Trainor
705 Dallas Avenue,
Selma, Alabama.
