Miss Ethel Trainor,
705 Dallas Ave,
Selma, Ala.
Mtsdear Miss Trainor:
I cannot begin to tell you how much regret the
attitude you have taken with the Army Nurse Corps, in refusing a tem-
perary appointment to home service. This action of yours makes it
quite impossible for us to recommend you to the Military Establishment
again, ubless you are willing to accept cantonment hospital service.
We do not understand who notified you on two or three occasions
to be ready for travel orders, but as all the correspondence we had with
you is on file in this Office we are assuming that such instructions may
have reached you from the organizing nurse.
All nurses at the present time, even those who are attached to Base
Hospitals, are being sent into cantonment service temporarily, until the
entire Unit is mobilized; and we neo"fore reason why you should not have
accepted such an assignment, than other nurses on the Base Hospitalsof
whi ch you are a member.
There seems nothing I can do now towards getting you an assignment,
unless you are willing to fall into line and accept ordess for duty.
Under these circumstances I would be willing to ask the War Department is
they would has reconsider you for service.
Very truly yours,
Director, Bureau of Field Nursing Service
N/C
